edgy parking lot shoot

My mom has always been a huge vegetable gardener but when I started this business she decided to have a go at flower farming, which apparently is a lot harder. This spontaneous parking lot shoot was created after driving back from my parent’s house with a bucket of flowers. I had this idea that I wanted to create monochromatic flower designs to be displayed in a way that was unexpected. Not a wedding shoot, not a couples shoot, not a light & happy flower shoot. But an edgy, breaking boundaries, for no particular reason flower shoot. Two badass women covered in flowers in a parking lot. And yes, there are cigarettes involved. Why? Because its unexpected. Because women can smoke a cig once in a blue moon if they want and because flowers can be rebellious and dangerous as well. Let yourself feel whatever you feel when you look at these. Art is about breaking boundaries and evoking emotion, and yes, any emotion is good.

body art studio shoot

This shoot was something I had dreamed about doing for a long time after being inspired by Passion Flower Sue and all of her incredible creations. I am so drawn to the detail work of body art and how endlessly creative it can be. Amanda Dang worked her makeup magic and Marcella Laine took all the photos. My goal for this shoot was to highlight Black women through art & creativity. It’s hard to put into words the energy and empowerment that was felt in this studio during this shoot. Women encouraging women, embracing sexuality, and just so much fucking beauty.
